News — NEW IMPLEMENTING REGULATION ON ORGANIC AQUACULTURE PUBLISHED

A new Commission Implementing Regulation amending (EC) No 889/2008 has been published in the EU Official Journal.

The new regulation – (EU) No 1358/2014 – amends and supplements the requirements for organic aquaculture following two reports by the Expert Group for Technical Advice on Organic Production (EGTOP), produced in 2013 and 2014.

This new regulation takes up a number of the elements of the EGTOP reports and a separate implementing regulation will likely be implemented in 2015 for the other elements which have not been included in the new regulation – such as the issue of availability of organic juveniles.
