Organic production in the European Union is governed by Regulation (EU) 2018/848, which establishes the regulatory framework for:

• the required practices of organic production,
• the labeling of organic products,
• the control and certification system,
• the obligations of all operators involved in the organic supply chain.

The Regulation applies to all stages of the production and commercial chain, from primary production to processing, standardization, distribution, and import of organic products.
