What is the Equalitas – Sustainable Wine Standard

The Equalitas – Sustainable Wine is a private third-party standard that establishes clear requirements for implementing a structured framework for managing and evaluating sustainability in the wine sector.

The standard is based on a holistic approach that includes:

  • integration of environmental, social, and economic parameters,
  • implementation of a documented management system,
  • use of indicators to monitor performance,
  • evaluation and documentation of results,
  • continuous improvement through annual monitoring.

The Equalitas – Sustainable Wine applies to all stakeholders in the wine production chain, from grape growing to processing and final product distribution, such as:

  • Grape growers,
  • Wineries,
  • Wine bottling and trading companies.

The standard provides certification at three levels:

  • Sustainable Organisation (SO)
  • Sustainable Product (SP)
  • Denomination for Sustainability (DfS)
